Umamin si Bureau of Corrections chief Nicanor Faeldon na hindi siya kumonsulta sa Department of Justice bago palayain ang ilang preso kabilang na ang ilang suspek sa mga heinous crime.
Sa ulat ng Inquirer (Author, Christia Marie Ramos), tinanong ni Senate Minority Leader Franklin Drilon si Faeldon kung kumonsulta ba ito kay Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra bago palayain ang mga preso kabilang na ang tatlong convicts sa panggagahasa at pagpatay sa Chiong sisters.
Sinabi ni Faeldon na hindi niya matandaan kung nag-request ba siya ng clearance sa justice secretary para sa release ng PDL [person deprived of liberty].

Ani Drilon hindi kasali ang mga high-risk convicts sa pwedeng palayain nang walang approval mula sa justice secretary na isinasaad sa Department Order No. 953.
“You have not remembered seeking clearance for any of the 816 instances when you ordered the release of prisoners convicted of heinous crimes?” ani Drilon.
“Yes, your honor,” sagot naman ni Faeldon. Hindi raw kasi niya alam na may ganitong order pala nang manungkulan siya sa BuCor noong 2018.
Sabi pa ni Senator Drilon, “ignorance of the law excuses no one.”
“The Department Oder 953 was practically not familiar with me. I was not even apprised of that department order by anybody in the Bureau of Corrections in my entire stay there,” anito.
Hindi naman kumbinsido si Drilon sa naging statement ng BuCor chief lalo pa ay mayroong memorandum na may pirma umano ni Faeldon para sa release ni former Mayor Antonio Sanchez.
“Now you are trying [to say] you are not aware of Department Order 953," sabi pa ni Drilon.
