The Filipina beauty queen Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach won the crown barely five months ago; however, the “most beautiful woman in the universe” has immersed herself in several projects that seek to push her advocacies forward.
Pia won the crown in December, after her third attempt. Since her first try, the Filipino beauty has been vocal about her wish to spread HIV/AIDS awareness not only in the Philippines but also around the world. She also desires to end the stigma surrounding the disease/infection.

For instance, she has worked with GHMC in New York to spread HIV/AIDS awareness in the LGBT community. She has also been commissioned as the Madrina for the Latino Commission on AIDS. She has also undergone training from amfAR – a foundation focusing on AIDS research. She has also worked for Aid for AIDS.
Another advocacy she has been focusing on is fight for gender equality and women empowerment. She and Miss USA 2015 Olivia Jordan have worked together for United Nations Women for Peace.
Pia has also been active in supporting projects that aims to alleviate and help children and families struggling with poverty or diseases. For example, Pia and the Miss Universe 2013 Gabriela Isler has worked together for Cordaid in helping fight poverty and exclusion in conflict areas. She also has launched project Sunshine – a project that provides free educational, recreational, and social programs to children and families that are facing medical challenges. Then, Pia and Olivia also work together for SmileTrain – an organization that provides free surgery for children living with cleft palate.
In order to help her with her advocacies, Pia works hand in hand with different organizations. In less than five months, she has travelled around the world not only to appreciate its beauty but also to promote the causes she believes in and continues to fight for.
