The parents of Jacqueline and Marijoy Chiong have cried injustice over the possible release of the 3 out of 7 suspects of their children’s case.
KAMI learned that the suspects could benefit from the good conduct time allowance (GCTA).
In a report by ABS-CBN News (author Annie Perez), Thelma Chiong said that it would be an “injustice.”
"It is an injustice! When the conviction has already served the justice for my children," she said.
Meanwhile, his husband Dionesio lamented, “it's like we lost our children again.”

As shared by the Inquirer on Twitter, Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) legal chief Frederic explained that they cannot confirm nor deny if the three suspects Rowen Adlawan, Alberto Caño, and Ariel Balansag already have release papers.

In a previous report by KAMI, former Calauan Mayor Antonio Sanchez who was convicted for a heinous crime was subjected to an early release due to the GCTA. Sanchez was one of the suspects who killed students Eileen Sarmenta and Allan Gomez in 1993.
However, both the Department of Justice and BuCor have claimed that Sanchez was not eligible for the early release.
The Chiong sisters were killed in July 1997 in Cebu. 7 suspects were convicted for the case and one of them, Paco Larrañaga, is now detained in Spain.
