President Rodrigo Duterte has paid his respects to the late Environment Secretary Gina Lopez on Monday.
KAMI learned from ABS-CBN News that Duterte was accompanied by his former long-time aide, Senator Christopher “Bong” Go.
Duterte visited the private mausoleum of the Lopez family. The photos were uploaded by Gina’s brother, ABS-CBN Publishing Inc. chief Ernie Lopez.

In a previous report by KAMI, Gina was welcomed by mourners when her remains were brought to the ABS-CBN compound. Her casket was brought by her family to the viewing area.
In 2016, Gina was appointed by President Duterte as the Secretary of Department of Environment and Natural Resources. However, the Commission on Appointment rejected it in 2017.
Gina is an environment advocate. She was also the long-time chairperson of ABS-CBN Foundation Inc. and the founder of Bantay Bata 163.
She passed away on August 19 at the age of 65 after suffering from brain cancer and multiple organ failure.
