Manila Mayor Isko Moreno has joined the celebration of his godfather, Fernando Poe Jr.’s (FPJ), 80th birth anniversary on Tuesday.
KAMI learned that Moreno met with Senator Grace Poe, the adopted daughter of FPJ and veteran actress Susan Roces.
In a tweet by the ABS-CBN News, Moreno shared the reaction of FPJ when he asked him to be a principal sponsor at his wedding.
“Kahit ako ay ordinaryong artista lang noon, nung hiniling ko maging ninong si FPJ, hindi siya nagdalawang salita. Siya pa nagpaalala saakin na, ‘Diba January yung kasal mo? Pag di mo ko tinuluyang kunin na ninong, pupunta ako sa kalaban mo,’” Moreno said.

According to a tweet by the Inquirer, Sen. Poe with her mother and son Brian Poe Llazamanzares were giving away groceries and toys to 200 indigent families as part of the celebration.
Fernando Poe Jr. was popularly known as “Da King.” He was a legendary actor, director, and politician. He was labeled as the “King of Philippine Movies.” Some of his popular movies are “Ang Panday,” “Pakners,” and “Ang Probinsyano.”
In 2004, he ran against former Pres. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo for the presidency. However, he lost. He also passed away in the same year.
In 2006, he was declared as the National Artist of the Philippines for Film by President Gloria Arroyo.
