Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III claimed that there was a “deception” behind the viral video of transgender woman Gretchen Diez.

KAMI learned that Sotto revealed that the CCTV footage of the mall told a different story over what happened to Diez before she took the viral video.

"Dun pa lang may deception na eh sa balita sa viral video...Hindi pinakita kung ano ang nangyari before that," Sotto said in an interview on DZMM.

The Senate President explained that he was able to get the CCTV footage for the Senate inquiry. He narrated what happened based on the footage.

"May pila sa ladies' room…

Itinuro siya dun sa PWD, or doon sa other nila, third toilet nila,” he added.

However, Sotto mentioned that the PWD toilet was occupied when the janitress left Diez there. A few moments after, Diez went back and started the argument with the cleaning staff.

Sotto also mentioned that it is rare for him to hear that women are comfortable to see cross-dressing men using the ladies’ restroom. He said that Bataan 1st District Rep. Geraldine Roman has a different case.

So walang problema sa kababaihan. Pero paano 'yung mukhang lalake, na lalake pala...They feel awkward. Marami ang nagsasabi sa amin," he said.

In a previous report by KAMI, Diez and Rep. Roman went to the Palace and met with President Rodrigo Duterte.

Senator Bong Go shared that President Duterte supports the passage of SOGIE Bill. Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo also mentioned that the President supports the LGBTQ+ rights.

Diez went viral on social media after she was barred from using the ladies’ comfort room at the Farmers Plaza.
