Through a Facebook post, Diez mentioned that there was a “huge leap” on fighting against LGBTQ+ discrimination.
“A huge leap on our fight against discrimination. After two decades of waiting. Thank you for your support, Mr. President,” Diez said.
In another post, Diez said that her visit to the Palace was a “cardinal event in the Philippine history for the LGBTQ+ community.”
“Patunay lang na may kinakahinatnan ang pinaglalaban nating lahat. Tuloy ang laban,” she wrote.
In a previous report by KAMI, Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said that President Duterte supports the LGBTQ+ rights. Panelo also mentioned that the President backs the third restroom for the LGBTQ+ members and the passage of SOGIE bill.
Diez made the headlines recently after she went viral for being barred by a mall cleaning staff to use the ladies’ comfort room. The transgender woman was handcuffed and was detained by the police.
