Most of us must have gotten our hands nibble on touch screen gadgets. The new generation, especially, tends to spend most of the time swiping on or off their mobile screens. Touch screen is considered as a good breakthrough in technology, but as they say, too much of good is bad.
What are the health risks that accompany the excessive use of these gadgets?
Some of us tend to stay in a position for long periods of time. With devices becoming lighter and more portable, we are able to bring these gadgets to our bedrooms, on the dining table, and to the bathroom, and everywhere else since it’s “convenient”.
In this generation, the population mostly affected by the touch screen technology are the millennials and the digital natives. Children who are more exposed to the virtual world will disconnect themselves to the real world. This will affect them physically, emotionally, and developmentally. Children who direct more of their attention to screens than social interaction is something that should not be normal.
This is most alarming for the young ones because it can affect their way of life and their future. If adults are able to educate and expose the young ones to real word interactions, health risks of advancing technology may be lessened or better yet avoided.
Thus, while these developments are welcomed with open arms, the public should be careful in using them. They should not allow their young children – including those who are still in their toddler years – to spend more time watching movies through tablets, playing games on smartphones, and other related activities. Most of all, they should not allow this touch screen technology to replace their childhood experience.
