- President Rodrigo Duterte will visit China for the fifth time this August
- He plans to have a one-on-one talk with Chinese President Xi Jinping
- Duterte said that he will finally raise the arbitral ruling about the West Philippine Sea
President Rodrigo Duterte will finally bring up to Chinese President Xi Jinping the 2016 Hague arbitral ruling that invalidated China’s claim over the West Philippine Sea.
KAMI learned that the Philippines’ head of state will invoke the said ruling when he visits China for the fifth time this August.
It can be recalled that an international tribunal released a decision three years ago that favored the Southeast Asian nation over its fight for the contested waters.
The tribunal said that China has no legal basis to claim historic rights to the West Philippine Sea, but the giant country immediately rejected the decision.

Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo reiterated to the media on Tuesday the words of Duterte about his decision to finally raise the issue with the Chinese President.
The Palace official also pointed out that the President of the Philippines is already fulfilling his promise to his constituents about the said ruling.
"There will be a time that I will invoke the arbitral ruling. This is the time that’s why I’m going there," he stressed, quoting the President.
“He precisely said that that is pursuant to what he said the first time we visited China that there will be a time that I will raise this issue and talk about it but not now. The time has come,” Panelo added.
In a previous article by KAMI, Duterte prayed to God to spare the Philippines from possible ISIS attack.
West Philippine Sea is located in the eastern parts of the South China Sea but is included in the exclusive economic zone of the Philippines.
