Manila Mayor Isko Moreno shared on Monday that he is planning to construct the first-ever Islamic cemetery in the country's capital city.
KAMI learned that the mayor made this remark as he welcomed Saudi Arabia’s ambassador to the Philippines, Dr. Abdullah Al Bussairy.
In a report by the ABS-CBN News, Moreno said that the Muslim community should have a decent place where they could bury their loved ones.

“We are now about to build the first Islamic cemetery. Because we have Chinese cemetery. We have Filipino cemetery. How come we don’t have an Islamic cemetery?” he said.
“So I felt bad for our people. They are living already in our community, in our city. Why not come up with (a cemetery),” he added.
The mayor also mentioned that he sought for the help of a Muslim teacher or leader to know more about the Islamic practices of burial.
In a previous report by KAMI, Moreno called out a foreign national he caught smoking in a public space. The mayor also looked into the illegally parked cars in front of a club in Malate.
