Manila Mayor Isko Moreno is set to sign the ordinance seeking to provide P500 allowance to senior citizens monthly.

KAMI learned that aside from the senior citizens, the Grade 12 students enrolled in public schools, solo parents, and persons with disabilities would be granted monthly allowance as well.

In a report by Rappler (author Rambo Talabong), the senior citizens would be given ATM cards where the allowance would be deposited.

In order to qualify, seniors must be at least 60 years-old, bona fide residents, registered voters in Manila City, and must be in the master list of the Manila Office of Senior Citizens Affairs.

For Grade 12 students, good standing is a must. The students should also be residents in Manila and registered voters. If not of legal age yet, the legal guardian must be the registered voters.

Meanwhile, the solo parents and PWDs must be bona fide residents and registered voters in Manila as well. They must be included in the master list of the Manila Department of Social Welfare.
