Manila Mayor Isko Moreno ordered police to respect human rights of suspects during drug busts.
He made it clear that he still respects human rights. He pointed this out during his speech at a National Press Club forum in Intramuros.
As reported by ABS-CBN News, authored by Michael Joe Delizo, the newly appointed Mayor said that he can not guarantee to end the killings and crimes.
He added that drug addiction is something that needs a cure. Thus, the human rights of drug suspects should still be respected.
“Yung crimes and killings, I cannot guarantee [to end] kasi it can happen to anywhere in this world but with regards to the policy and guidance, ang sabi ko simple lang: habulin lahat ang nagbebenta ng droga.
On the other hand, he also said that the policemen should also protect themselves whenever their lives are in danger.
“At the same time, pangalagaan ang mga pulis ang kanilang kaligtasan.
