- The issue on franchise renewal of ABS-CBN was brought up anew in Malacañang
- This was after Salvador Panelo decided to air a clarification about it
- He also emphasized that the network’s franchise will expire in March next year
Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo frankly aired an important clarification with regards to the much-talked-about renewal of ABS-CBN franchise.
KAMI learned that the said media network is facing a heavy problem now after President Rodrigo Duterte threatened that he will not allow the company to get a new license.
The franchise of the Lopez-led network will expire on March 2020 and a lot of people are getting more curious about its fate, considering the serious threat of the head of state.
On July 18, Panelo clarified to the media and the public that the renewal of ABS-CBN franchise will depend on the Congress and not on President Duterte.
The Spokesperson said this when he was asked about the franchise renewal of TV5 and Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) that already lapsed into law.
"But ABS-CBN ang expiration next year pa eh, tsaka Congress naman. Nasa Kongreso ang bola niyan, hindi naman kay Presidente,” he quipped.
In a previous article by KAMI, Vice Ganda made fun of the franchise renewal issue of the Kapamilya network.
ABS-CBN is a giant media corporation in the Philippines. It has produced a lot of big names in the entertainment industry.
