On Saturday, 13th of July at 4:42 am, a 5.5-magnitude earthquake struck the west of the town of Carrascal in Surigao del Sur. The earthquake wounded and injured 25 people in households, churches, and others.
Phivolcs reported that the 5-kilometer-deep tremor was accompanied by seven less intense aftershocks.
This huge crack appeared on the ground after a the tremor at Union, Madrid, Surigao del Sur.
Part of the ceiling of the public market and Catholic church collapsed in Carmen, Surigao del Sur as reported by ABS-CBN.
According to a report by rescue officials, 25 people were hurt because of the earthquake.
Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drills were done to boost the country's awareness and preparedness.
In April this year, a region north of the capital Manila was struck by a 6.3-magnitude quake which killed at least 11 people.
