- Mayor Isko Moreno ordered the removal of politicians’ names form schools and hospitals
- He said that “bawal ang epal” in Manila City
- Moreno reminded the politicians to stop “immortalizing their names”
Manila City Mayor Isko Moreno ordered the removal of the names of politicians from schools and hospitals on Tuesday.
KAMI learned that Moreno insisted that politicians should set aside politics from educational institutions.
In a report by ABS-CBN News, Moreno said that politicians should not “immortalize their names.”
“Pinatatanggal ko lahat ng pangalan, ultimo ang pangalan ko at pangalan ng mga pulitiko, na nakapintura o nakakabit sa mga eskwelahan. I told them 'huwag niyong pulitikahin ang ating paaralan'. Let's leave politics to politicians and our educational institutions to academicians,’” Moreno said.
“Lahat ng mga naglalagay na pulitiko ng kanilang mga pangalan as if you are immortalizing yourself or as if it is your money, it is not our money. Pera yan ng taumbayan,” he added.
Moreno reiterated that “epal” will be prohibited in Manila City from now on.
“Basta sa health care institution, sa educational institution, at the very least, bawal ang epal,” he firmly said.
As previously reported by KAMI, the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) and Senator Ping Lacson commended the efforts of Moreno to change Manila. Moreno led the clearing operations in different crowded areas in the country’s capital.
