A Filipino-Chinese business group has given financial aid to the fishermen of F/B Gem-Vir 1 who were involved in the ramming incident at the Recto Bank.

KAMI learned that about P1.2 million was given to the fishermen for the repair of their rammed mother boat.

In a report by the GMA News Online (author Anna Felicia Bajo), the Federation of Filipino Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (FFCCCII) officials personally handed the donation to the fishermen.

“We express our sincere concern for their welfare and our solidarity with them,” he added.

The FFCCCII president clarified that their kind gesture has “no strings attached.”

"Walang strings attached ito. Baka akala niyo may strings attached ha? No strings attached ito," he said.

Bon Liong also mentioned that they would be giving P250,000 to the fishermen for livelihood assistance.

Boat captain Junel Insigne has expressed their gratitude for the donations.

Boat owner Felix Dela Torre mentioned that the assistance served as hope for them to rise again.
