- President Rodrigo Duterte called Justice Antonio Carpio names after his recent remark
- Duterte said that Carpio was “stupid” and “crazy” for what he said
- Carpio earlier mentioned that the Philippine government should not allow China to fish in the Philippine EEZ
President Rodrigo Duterte called Supreme Court Associate Justice Antonio Carpio “stupid” over the latter’s statement that the Chinese fishermen are not allowed in the Philippine Exclusive Economic Zone.
KAMI learned that during the 122nd anniversary of the Presidential Security Group at Malacañang, the President said that he was never impressed by Carpio.
In a report by the ABS-CBN News (author Arianne Merez), President Duterte called Carpio names.
“Sabi ko nga, ‘Alam mo, Justice Carpio, napaka-estupido mo.’ That is why hanggang diyan ka lang talaga,” the President said.
“He’s from Davao. Basta noon pa, hindi ako bilib diyan buang na ’yan. Wala, wala . . . walang ka-rhyme o reason,” he added.
When asked for his reaction, Carpio just said: “Not worth a comment.”
In a previous report by KAMI, Carpio said that allowing the Chinese crew to fish in the Philippine EEZ is unconstitutional. He also cited Section 2, Article XII of the 1987 Constitution.
Earlier, President Duterte said that China will not stop fishing in the country’s EEZ because they are friends with the Philippines.
