- A group of Igorot youths slammed the recent remark of Imee Marcos
- They said that it would be a shame to dance for a Marcos
- They also called out Marcos for mocking their rituals
A group of Igorot youth slammed Senator-elect Imee Marcos over her statement regarding the Igorots performing a ritual to bless the office of outgoing Senator Antonio Trillanes.
KAMI learned that the Progressive Igorots for Social Action released a statement and emphasized that they will not be dancing for Marcos.
“When Imee Marcos said, ‘…makikisayaw kami sa mga Igorot namin para mabendisyunan nang todo,’ we flinched, with anger and disgust. A murderer and a thief taking our culture for granted, and stealing our identity to the point of even owning it- that person must be held accountable and condemned,” it read in the statement.
“And Imee, asking the Igorot to dance for a blessing is a mockery of the sanctity of our rituals and traditions. We will not dance for you, because a dance for a Marcos is a dance for shame,” it added.

In a previous report by KAMI, Marcos said that she would invite the Igorots to perform a ritual inside Trillanes’ office before she occupies it.
Marcos shared that she received the room of the opposition senator through draw lots.
