- President Rodrigo Duterte said that China will not stop fishing in the Philippine Exclusive Economic Zone
- The President shared that the reason behind is that the Philippines is friends with China
- Duterte has already received the preliminary result of the investigation
President Rodrigo Duterte explained on Monday that China will continue fishing in the Philippine Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).
KAMI learned that the reason why the President thought of this was because the Philippines is “friends” with China.
In an interview with the reporters, President Duterte addressed the many issues regarding the ramming incident between a Filipino fishing boat and a Chinese vessel in the Reed Bank.
“I don’t think China would do that,” the President said.
“Why? Because we’re friends,” he added.
As reported by GMA News (author Virgil Lopez), President Duterte said that he is open to having a joint investigation with China regarding the incident.
However, the Philippine government is still conducting its own investigation. It has also been reported that President Duterte has already received the preliminary result of the investigation.
In a previous report by KAMI, President Duterte called the collision as a “maritime incident.” He also said to wait for the final result of the investigation and hear the side of China.
