President Rodrigo Duterte has signed a measure seeking to require transport terminals to have free internet services and clean restrooms.
KAMI learned that under the Republic Act 11311, there should also be lactation stations and adequate ventilation in the terminals.
In a report by the GMA News (author Virgil Lopez), the new law was signed on April 17, but the copy was released on Wednesday.
RA 11311 also prohibits collecting fees for the use of restrooms, only paid bus ticket will be needed to avail the free use. However, this does not apply to deluxe sanitary facilities.
Those who will violate the law will receive a P5,000 fine each day of violation. Another P5,000 fine will be given to those who will collect fees for using the restrooms.
The Department of Transportation, Department of Information and Communications Technology, Department of Health, Philippine Ports Authority, and Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board will be working together to implement the rules and regulations of this new law.
