- Lanie Insigne has expressed her dismay over the statement of President Rodrigo Duterte
- She said that they voted for Duterte during the 2016 polls
- However, they felt neglected now because of his remark
Lanie Insigne, the wife of boat captain Junel Insigne, has expressed her dismay over the statement of President Rodrigo Duterte on the ramming incident between Filipino and Chinese vessels.
KAMI learned that Lanie regretted voting for Duterte as president because she felt like he took the involved fishermen for granted.
“Siya ang binoto naming president. Hangang-hanga kami sa kanya kasi matapang siya, tapos parang binalewala niya lang kami,” she said, as reported by CNN Philippines.
KAMI reported earlier that Junel shared how sad he was over the remark of President Duterte as well.
"Nalulungkot po ako dahil kasi parang balewala lang po 'yung pagbangga sa amin, paano po kung maraming namatay sa amin?" he said.
Junel added that he wanted the captain of the Chinese vessel to be held accountable for the incident.
In a previous report by KAMI, President Duterte referred to the accident as a “little maritime incident.”
“Banggaan lang ng barko ‘yan. Do not make it worse because that’s a fertile ground,” he said.
22 lives of Filipino fishermen were put in danger when a Chinese fishing vessel hit F/B Gem-Vir 1 in Recto Bank. Fortunately, Vietnamese fishermen were able to rescue the local fishermen.
