- She received a full scholarship from the University of Melbourne, Australia
A student who lived in the dumps and only started going to school at the age of 11, graduated as the valedictorian of her class.
KAMI learned that Sophy Ron of Cambodia has been living as a scavenger all her life.
However she didn’t let her circumstances take over her but instead used her situation to push her to strive and be the best she could be.
When she was already 11 years old, the Cambodian Children's Fund came to her area and helped take children out of the dumps and got them to study.
The organization encouraged Sophy to study despite the fact that she had no previous school experience, as per the report made by Buzzooks.
She focused in her studies and did well in school and that’s while trying to make a living to feed herself and help her family.
Her daily efforts of working and studying paid off. She graduated as class valedictorian and she is now preparing to fly to Australia to make use of the scholarship given to her to study at the prestigious University of Melbourne.
Indeed, nothing is impossible when you put your heart and mind to it.
