Junel Insigne, the captain of F/B GEM-VER 1 that sank after being hit by a Chinese Bessel, has bared the reason why he canceled his meeting with President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday.

KAMI learned that Insigne told the media that he was not feeling and he was exhausted to meet with President Duterte.

“Medyo sumama po ang aking pakiramdam kaya’t hindi ko pa kayang bumyahe… Sobrang pagod na pagod na po ako, stress na po,” he said.

In a video by the News5, Insigne stated that if the President wanted to help, then he should just send the assistance to Occidental Mindoro.

“Saakin lang, kung tutulong e-ano [padala] kung tutulong, pero kung pupunta pa ako dun hindi na po kaya,” Insigne said.

The captain mentioned how disappointed he was with the statement of Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi that the boat was merely damaged.

“Talagang masama po ang loob ko… Hindi po totoo yun, talagang sinadya po kaming binanggain ng Chinese fishing vessel,” he said.

Insigne also insisted that their statement was true and that their anchored boat was hit by a Chinese vessel. He also urged President Duterte to help them repair the boat so they can go back to fishing again.

“Nagdududa sila, samantalang totoo naman po na binangga kami,” he said.
