KAMI learned that Alapag kept in touch with an old friend and it was the one that opened this opportunity for him.
According to ESPN, the San Miguel Beermen assistant coach in PBA stayed in touch with Vlade Divac, and since he was the general manager of the Sacramento Kings, he invited Alapag to be the assistant for the Summer League.
"I cherish the opportunity to continue my education in coaching...I've been blessed to have worked with a lot of great coaches in the PBA and with Gilas Pilipinas and I'm excited to learn more from the coaches in the NBA," said Alapag.
The NBA Summer League will be held at the Thomas and Mack Center and at the University of Las Vegas' Cox Pavilion.
It will be held from July 5 to 15. The team will be playing four preliminary games and the top eight will be playing in the knockout tournament and the champion will be determined on July 15.
Jimmy Alapag is a professional basketball player and the San Miguel Alab Pilipinas head coach in the ASEAN Basketball League. He is married to LJ Moreno and they have three kids.
