- Gazini Ganados was crowned as the Miss Universe-Philippines 2019
- During the last round, she was asked about how to get more women in the workplace
- Her winning answer irked some people in the online world
Newly-crowned Miss Universe-Philippines Gazini Ganados was not able to convince some netizens with her winning answer during the Binibining Pilipinas 2019.
KAMI learned that the Cebuana beauty was asked by Bobby Barreiro, the Integrated Events head of ABS-CBN, about how she would get more women in the workplace if she wins the title.
The 23-year-old beauty queen then responded that she will use her advocacy of fighting for women’s rights and of taking care of the elderly.
She also emphasized that it is important for women to know that they are loved and they are being supported for their ambitions or desires.
“If I win the crown tonight, what I do is to promote my advocacy. My advocacy is for us women to fight for our rights and for the elderly women and for us to know that someone is loving us, someone is pushing us to whatever ambitions that we have. We will be able to rise from our decisions, to whatever dreams that we have, the goals that we have, and we will achieve it because of those values, that wisdom that they gave us. Thank you,” she answered.
However, this winning response of Gazini sparked negative reactions in the online world as some netizens claimed that she was not able to properly answer the question.
Other social media users also believed that there were other candidates who answered well and who deserved the highly-coveted crown.
Here are their comments:
“She could have answered that question from a feminist point of view... but then again, she may not even know what feminism is.”
“Far from the question. Dinaan mo lang kami sa projection, lakas ng loob, at mga typical beauty pageant words na minemorize mo but unrelated substance and thought to the question.”
“Sorry, but this is such a sabaw answer. She could’ve touched on unemployment, gender discrimination, even inequality in pay but she didn’t. She glossed over the topic completely.”
“Vague answer with no concrete answer. Honestly, it sounds like a boxed reply to vaguely answer any question. Try it.”
“Mukhang ipinilit ang memorized na answer about her advocacy.”
In a previous article by KAMI, Vickie Rushton received negative comments because of her reason for not being able to answer well the question thrown to her.
Gazini Ganados is a Filipino beauty queen and model whose father is a Palestinian. She competed in Miss World 2014 but she failed to advance to the final round.
