HIGHLIGHT: “Whatever campaign, whatever advertisement, whatever sortie we make will be useless if we will only be cheated and our votes will not be counted,” said Escudero.
Eight watchers per precinct will be deployed by Partido Galing at Puso or PGP (Wisdom and Empathy Party) to ensure that each ballot will be preserved and protected on election day.
PGP will have its manpower from allies Nationalist People's Coalition, Makabayan, Bagumbayan and Aksyon Democratico, according to campaign manager Cebu Rep. Joseph Durano.
“The watchers will serve in shifts. We will closely work with them as far as the deployment of watchers. We have a team also working closely with PPCRV (Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting),” he said in a text message to PDI.
Party standard-bearer Poe, and Vice Presidentiable Escuero, are both leading the surveys but they remain wary especially since the Commission on Elections have come under fire for the inability of the PCOS machines to print voter verified paper ballots.
“More than a poll victory, it is important that election results for the president and vice president are credible,” said Escudero.
In a gathering with around 400 volunteers for Team GP on March 12, Escudero said, “Whatever campaign, whatever advertisement, whatever sortie we make will be useless if we will only be cheated and our votes will not be counted.”
Poe's fears arise from a more personal viewpoint after his father, the late Fernando Poe Jr., was allegedly cheated in the 2004 presidential elections.
Twelve senatoriables are also in the line-up of PGP.
