The Philippine National Police (PNP) ordered radio broadcaster Erwin Tulfo to surrender his firearms due to an expired License To Own and Possess Firearms (LTOPF) in May.

KAMI learned that PNP spokesman Police Colonel Bernard Banac said only Erwin’s LTOPF is expired out of all the Tulfo brothers.

"The Philippine National Police has ordered for the recall or temporary safekeeping of the firearms of Erwin Tulfo in as much as the License To Own and Possess Firearms of Mr. Erwin Tulfo has already expired," Banac said.

"If the LTOPF is already expired, then there is no more reason for an individual to keep firearms even if these firearms are still valid, if the licenses are valid. They need to be surrendered for temporary safekeeping," he continued.

As reported by the GMA News (author Anna Felicia Bajo), the PNP already sent a notice to Tulfo about this. The police cannot also reveal yet how many firearms Tulfo has.

In a report by the Inquirer, Tulfo has already talked to the authorities, and said that he is planning to renew his LOTPF.

“But he has to show that he’s working out the requirements to complete the application process. Otherwise, the CSG-FEO (Civil Security Group-FEO) may deem it proper to apply for a search warrant,” Banac said.

As previously reported by KAMI, the PNP pulled out the police escorts of Tulfo after he threatened to slap Social Welfare and Development Secretary Rolando Bautista for refusing to have an interview with him. A few days after, Tulfo issued an apology.
