Veteran film director Jose Javier Reyes decided to break his silence after receiving heavy criticisms from netizens with regards to his statement about the judges in “Idol Philippines.”
KAMI learned that the aforementioned filmmaker recently posted a suggestion about who he thinks are more appropriate as jurors in the said competition.
He mentioned the names of Jed Madela, Gary Valenciano, and Morisette Amon as more credible judges than the three other artists who are currently part of the show.
Direk Joey also expressed that credibility is an important factor in big singing contests like “Idol PH” and that the judges should not be chosen based on “celebrity” standards.
After airing his controversial suggestion, a lot of netizens admitted that they did not like the statement of the said director and they claimed that he just disrespected the program.
Some also stated that what the award-winning director did was an example of a “crab mentality” and it is said to be the reason why the showbiz industry in the country “has not improved.”
Few hours after posting his statement, Direk Joey once again spoke up and apologized for how he aired his suggestions.
He also said sorry for being “insensitive” and he quipped that everyone must be given a chance to showcase their talents.
