- Erwin Tulfo insulted and threatened Social Welfare Chief Rolando Bautista on his radio program
- He did this when Bautista refused to give him an on-air interview
- Senator-elect Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa defended the DSWD Secretary on Facebook
Erwin Tulfo got into hot waters after he ranted on his radio program against Social Welfare Chief Rolando Bautista, a former general in the Philippine Army.
Tulfo cursed at Bautista and threatened to slap him and push his head down a toilet bowl for refusing an on-air interview with him, as reported by The Philippine Star.
“Sampalin kita 'pag nakita kitang buang ka eh, wala akong pakialam ke retired General ka, mudmurin ko yung mukha mo sa inidoro,” Tulfo said on air.
Journalists, netizens and members of the military slammed Tulfo for his rant, as Bautista is a decorated general respected by many soldiers.
One of the people who defended Bautista is Senator-elect Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa, who took to social media to express his admiration for the DSWD Chief.
“Kung sino man ang gustong mambastos at manakit sa napakabait at napakamaginoong upperclassman ko na ito dumaan muna kayo sa akin para matikman ninyo ang brotherhood ng PMAyers,” Dela Rosa posted.
Secretary Bautista was defended by the Philippine Military Academy Alumni Association, stating that the decorated General has done more for the Philippines that Tulfo ever will.
The Social Welfare Secretary is a former commander of the Presidential Security Group and the 1st Infantry Division. He was also in the frontlines during the Marawi siege.
Tulfo has issued an apology for his rant but refused to take back the criticisms he made.
