- Erwin Tulfo insulted and threatened Social Welfare Chief Rolando Bautista on his radio program
- He did this when Bautista refused to give him an on-air interview
- Following the rant, Tulfo’s police escorts were pulled out
The police escorts of Erwin Tulfo, his wife, and two of his siblings have been pulled out by the Philippine National Police (PNP).
The recall came following Tulfo’s rant on his radio program against Social Welfare Chief Rolando Bautista, a former general in the Philippine Army.
Tulfo threatened to slap Bautista and push his head down a toilet bowl for refusing an on-air interview with him, as reported by The Philippine Star.
However, ABS-CBN News reported that Tulfo’s rant against Bautista had nothing to do with the pullout of the police escorts.
Secretary Bautista was defended by the Philippine Military Academy Alumni Association, stating that the decorated General has done more for the Philippines than Tulfo ever will.
The Social Welfare Secretary is a former commander of the Presidential Security Group and the 1st Infantry Division. He was also in the frontlines during the Marawi siege.
Tulfo has issued an apology for his rant but refused to take back the criticisms he made.
