The son of slain Ozamiz City Mayor Reynaldo Parojinog Sr. has been convicted for illegal possession of drugs on Friday.
KAMI learned that the Quezon City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 79 has found Reynaldo Parojinog Jr. guilty of possessing illegal drugs when he was caught in a raid in 2017.
In a report by the ABS-CBN News (author Mike Navallo), Judge Nadine Jessica Corazon Fama ordered Parojinog to pay a fine of P500,000 and has been sentenced of life imprisonment.
The QC court said that the suspect failed to present convincing evidence to prove his innocence.
“The denial of the accused cannot be given credence by the Court. The claim of the defense that the drugs found in the house of the accused were planted was unsubstantiated by clear and convincing evidence,” the ruling said.
In 2017, Parojinog’s sister, former Ozamiz Vice Mayor Nova Princess Parojinog-Echavez, has been arrested during a raid.
As reported by the Inquirer (author Tetch Torres-Tupas), Ozamiz City Police Major Jovie Espenido who lead the raid in 2017 shared his victory that the court was able to see their hard work.
“Nagpapasalamat ako sa Panginoon talagang tiningnan ang trabaho ng pulis, we received the reward,” Espenido said.
