- Group of students went to protest in front of the CHED office
- They were protesting the tuition fee increase, non-mandatory teaching of Filipino in college, and others
- However, the protest ended up with police trying to apprehend the students
There were students protesting at the Commission on Higher Education (CHED). However, KAMI learned that the protest ended up in a brawl with the Philippine National Police (PNP) officers.
In a Facebook video posted by the ABS-CBN News, it can be seen that things went physical when the policemen tried to contain the students.
The students reportedly threw paint bombs at the gate of CHED office in Quezon City. The protesters were fighting against tuition fee increases, non-mandatory teaching of Filipino language in college, and possible revival of the mandatory ROTC.
The netizens also voiced out their opinions regarding the incident. Here are their comments based on the Facebook page of ABS-CBN News:
“People now are very brave to fight and argue for what they think is right but very coward to face consequences of their actions”
“So they don’t want to help pay for teacher salaries and other educational services and absolutely opposed to help defend the country in case of an attack. I wouldn’t want to go to lunch with any of these free-loading scrubs.”
“Walang huhuliin kung walang vandalism na nangyari. Walang masasaktan if you're not resisting the arrest. Simple, you chose to break the law, so face the consequences.”
“Ok lng mag protesta pero peaceful sana. Agree ako sa mga pulis na hulihin kayo kasi tumawid kayo sa boundaries nyo eh.”
“Pinag aaral na ng libre nagproprotesta pa. Minsan ndi na ntin alam kung ano ba tlga ang pinaglalaban. Rotc lng yan ndi pa nmn kau sasabak sa giyera. Ndi nila alam ang benefits ng pagkakaroon ng civil service.”
