President Rodrigo Duterte has signed an order declaring June 5, 2019, as a regular holiday to celebrate Eid’l Fitr or the end of Ramadan.
KAMI learned that the declaration of the holiday has been confirmed by Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea.
In a report by the GMA News (Virgil Lopez), it was the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos who recommended to President Duterte to declare June 5 as a holiday.
Eid’l Fitr is a special day celebrated by the Muslims in the whole world for three days. It marks the end of Ramadan which started on May 6.
Eid’l Fitr calls for spiritual reflection. It includes praying, fasting, and abstaining from sinful behavior.
