President Rodrigo Duterte recently said that he is willing to resign if his eldest son, Davao City Rep. Paolo Duterte, wanted to be the new House Speaker.
KAMI learned that Paolo also commented about the President’s remark.
“Itong si Paolo, sabihin ko sa kanya, 'If you run for speakership, let me know. Kasi kung tatakbo ka, magre-resign ako kasi marami na tayo,’” the President said during the oath-taking of newly-appointed government officials.
In a report by the GMA News (author Llanesca Panti), Paolo dismissed the claims that he wanted to join the race for the Speakership of the 18th Congress.
“I did not say that I want to be a Speaker. May nagkamali na naman [ng] bulong sa tenga mo, Mr. President,” Paolo said on Facebook.
“Ang bumulong niyan eh di yung mga gustong mag SPEAKER...” he added in the comment section.

As previously reported by KAMI, Paolo has spoken about the allegations thrown to him by Peter Joemel Advincula alias “Bikoy.”
Paolo is the newly-elected Davao City Representative. His sister Sara Duterte-Carpio won another term as the mayor of Davao, while their brother Baste is the newly-elected vice mayor of the same city.
