1. Sit in the front

Sitting in the front seat may help you focus on the road ahead. Seeing where you're going could help your brain be in tune with what your eyes see. Motion sickness often happens when your mind could not associate your surroundings with the movement you feel.

2. Mind your food intake

Consuming food and drinks during a long car ride may upset your stomach, especially since you're in a moving vehicle. Try your best not to snack on anything and eat only during stopovers.

3. Do not read

When you're looking down during a car ride and can't see where you're going, chances are that you'll feel dizzy and get motion sickness. Try to lift your head up so that your brain will know that you are indeed moving based on what you're seeing.

4. Breathe in some fresh air

Open some windows from time to time so that you could breathe in some fresh air. Sometimes, getting a whiff off the scent of car fresheners could add to your headache and dizziness.

5. Take medication

Before getting in that car, take some over-the-counter medication. These oral medications that prevent you from getting motion sickness should be taken at least an hour before you go on your road trip.
