- Vice President Leni Robredo said that Sen. Kiko Pangilinan’s resignation was not accepted
- She noted that they should be fixing their mistakes “together”
- Robredo added that she appreciated that Pangilinan took full responsibility of their defeat
Vice President Leni Robredo has released on social media her letter addressed to Liberal Party President Senator Kiko Pangilinan.
KAMI learned that Robredo deemed it “unfair” for Pangilinan to carry all the burden of Otso Diretso’s defeat in the recent mid-term polls.
“While I also appreciate you taking responsibility for our electoral defeat, I firmly believe that it would be exceedingly unfair to lay the entire burden of our loss at your door,” she wrote.
“This was a joint effort on the part of party and opposition leadership, and the accountability is shared by us all,” the Vice President added.
Robredo also noted that they should be fixing their mistakes “together.”
“We have all made mistakes in the past few months, it is now our common responsibility to fix them. We still have a lot of work to do, together,” Robredo said.
As previously reported by KAMI, Vice President Robredo rejected the resignation of Pangilinan and LP Secretary General Kit Belmonte.
KAMI also reported before that Pangilinan and Belmonte resigned from their posts in the Liberal Party after the major loss of Otso Diretso. Pangilinan took full responsibility for their defeat as the campaign manager of the opposition slate.
