- However, Vice President Leni Robredo rejected their resignation
Vice President and Liberal Party (LP) chairman Leni Robredo has rejected the resignation of LP President Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan and LP Secretary General Christopher “Kit” Belmonte.
KAMI learned from the GMA News (author Llanesca T. Panti) that the spokesperson of Robredo, lawyer Barry Gutierrez, announced the Vice President’s decision.
"The Vice President has not accepted Senator Kiko’s and Cong. Kit’s resignations. Much work remains to be done, and they will do it, together," Gutierrez said.
The Palace has also spoken regarding the resignation of Pangilinan and the refusal of Robredo.
As previously reported by KAMI, Pangilinan announced that he already handed over his resignation to Robredo. He said that he took full responsibility of Otso Diretso’s defeat in the recent mid-term polls.
Born on August 24, 1963, Francis Pancratius "Kiko" Nepomuceno Pangilinan, served in the Senate from 2004 to 2008. He ran again in 2016 and became the president of the Liberal Party.
