- Senator Kiko Pangilinan handed over his resignation letter as Liberal Party President
- He also took full responsibility of Osto Diretso’s loss in the polls
- His resignation will be effective on June 30, 2019
Liberal Party President and Otso Diretso campaign manager Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan handed over his resignation letter to Vice President Leni Robredo.
KAMI learned from PTV News that Pangilinan takes full responsibility of Otso Diretso’s loss in the recent mid-term elections.
“As campaign manager for the Otso Diretso slate, I was unable to ensure our victory in the elections & I assume full responsibility for the outcome and hold myself primarily accountable for this defeat & have tendered my resignation as president of the LP effective June 30, 2019.” Pangilinan said on Twitter.
However, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) is set to proclaim the new senators and party-lists on Tuesday evening. Based on the partial and unofficial results, no opposition candidate made it in the so-called “Magic 12.” Most of the winning candidates were endorsed by the Duterte administration.
As previously reported by KAMI, Pangilinan has commented about his relationship with his wife, “Megastar” Sharon Cuneta, who had been supporting President Rodrigo Duterte and his family.
