- Headaches happen a lot especially when the weather is hot
- Most people tend to rely on over-the-counter medications just to ease the pain that they are feeling
- In most cases though, headaches can be solved using easy and natural remedies
Headaches are common to some people, especially when the weather is hot. Most resort to taking over-the-counter medication to provide faster relief for their headache. However, taking OTC medication could result to a person being immune to its effects over time and thus requiring a higher dosage to ease their pain.
What many people don't know is that some headaches can be cured by natural and easy ways. Take a look at some of them:
1. Do not chew
Chewing adds unwanted pressure to your head. Not only could chewing hurt your jaw, but it could also add to the pain you're already feeling on your head. When eating while you have a headache, try to chew your food slowly.
2. Drink coffee
Caffeine has been known to improve ones mood, increase alertness, and constrict the blood vessels, which can help ease headache symptoms. If you don't have coffee available, try other caffeinated drinks such as tea.
3. Apply cold compress
Keep the cold compress on your head for about 15 minutes to ease the constriction of blood vessels. You can try putting on an ice pack or a towel filled with ice.
4. Add ginger to your drinks and food
Some studies show that ginger can help ease headache and migraines. Ginger root also contains antioxidants and anti-inflammatory substances, as well as being able to reduce nausea and vomiting.
5. Loosen pressure on your head
Added pressure on your head could all add to your headache since blood flow can be restricted. If you're wearing a ponytail, try to loosen it up and see the difference.
6. Apply essential oils
Essential oils such as lavender have been known to reduce symptoms of headaches due to their soothing scent. You have the option to either apply them on certain points on your head such as your temples, or you could inhale them for faster results.
