- Vico Sotto said that he would not be joining President Rodrigo Duterte’s party
- He added that he would rather stay in his small political party
- Sotto noted that he would still support the President’s programs
Mayor-elect Vico Sotto explained that he would rather stay in his small political party, Aksyon, rather than join President Rodrigo Dutertre’s PDP-Laban.
KAMI learned that during an interview on ABS-CBN’s Headstart, Sotto was asked if he would be joining President Duterte’s party after his speech in Pasig that may have made an impact to the audience that made Sotto win in the elections.
"I think I'll stay with my party. I'd rather be in a small party... Tahimik lang, focus on our local government,” he said.
"Kung ano man iyung programs, especially sa anti-drug ng President Duterte, we will support it. We don't need to be in the same party necessarily," he added.
As previously reported by KAMI, Sotto vowed to end the confusing odd-even coding scheme in Pasig City, once he officially seats as the mayor.
Sotto won against incumbent Pasig Mayor Bobby Eusebio, whose family had been reigning the city for almost three decades.
Vico Sotto is the son of Kapuso TV host and actor Vic Sotto and veteran actress Coney Reyes. Before joining the mayoral race, he also served as a councilor in Pasig.
