- Floirendo stated that it was his right but Comelec says what he did was not legal
Hugpong ng Pagbabago Davao del Norte reelectionist Rep. Antonio Floirendo, Jr. was flagged by Comelec after committing violations.
KAMI learned that Floirendo showed his ballot and his voter's receipt to the media.
As per ABS-CBN's report, Floirendo stated that it was his right as it was his vote.
However, this was thwarted by Atty. Aimee Ferolino-Ampoloquio, the chairperson of the Comelec provincial board of canvassers in the area.
According to her, showing the ballot and the voter's receipt are not part of Floirendo's right.
"No, no, no. Hindi iyan part ng right niya (That’s not part of his right),” noted Atty. Aimee Ferolino-Ampoloquio, chairperson of Comelec provincial board of canvassers.
“Maging aktibo tayo hindi lang sa pagboto kundi bantayan natin ang buong proseso (Let us be active not just in voting, but let us watch over the whole process)," said the lady lawyer.
Aside from showing his ballot and voter's receipt, he also talked to his daughter while inside the voting precinct and told her not to vote for Sen. Koko Pimentel because he was a friend of Alvarez.
Violators of the rule may face between one to six years of imprisonment, being prevented from voting, as well as disqualification from holding public office.
