KAMI learned that mayoral candidate of Quezon City Vincent "Bingbong" Crisologo got arrested on election eve, Sunday, May 12.
According to the report, the Quezon City mayoral candidate got arrested for obstruction of justice as he allegedly intervened when police tried to arrest his group at an alleged vote-buying site.
The mayoral candidate got arrested alongside the 44 election watchers, and his son, Atty. Edrix Crisologo in Barangay Bahay Toro, in an anti-vote buying operation, according to ABS-CBN News.
Earlier, Quezon City Police District chief Brigadier General Joselito Esquivel told Rappler that Bingbong Crisologo got arrested for vote-buying.
General Esquivel told the news source in a text message, and we quote:
"Under investigation pa, pero sa vote buying site siya at the time (The incident is still under investigation, but he was at the vote buying site at the time)."
Crisologo is in custody at Camp Karingal as of writing.
Vincent "Bingbong" Crisologo is running for mayor under President Rodrigo Duterte's PDP-Laban.
The current congressman of Quezon City's 1st District is running against Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte.
