Veteran band vocalist Chito Miranda got lambasted by a lot of social media users after he released a statement comparing the millennials with people born in 1990s.

KAMI learned that the said singer called out some millennials for being “oversensitive” and for getting easily offended by lyrics of songs.

Chito made this statement after he performed the classic “Parokya Ni Edgar” hit entitled “Silvertoes,” which is about a woman who acts opposite to how she looks.

“Nothing against the millennials pero sometimes ‘yung mga millennials, masyadong sensitive. Pare, noong nilabas namin ‘yung kanta na ‘yan, walang na-offend. Alam niyo kung bakit? Tayong mga batang ‘90s, we don’t get offended by songs,” he quipped.

“Can you imagine kung ngayon namin nilabas ‘yan? Yari kami sa Twitter! Iba ang away ngayon, pare,” he added.

Because of his controversial words, the famous vocalist received negative comments from angry netizens.

Some pointed out that the ‘90s kids that Chito was referring to are actually the millennials and they also claimed that the lyrics of the song were really offensive.

Here are their comments:

“Generation Z po sila. Batang 90s are still the millennials...”

“Uh...millennials po ang ‘90s kids.’ And you should see the kind of kids I handle among my Gen Z students. They're sensitive, alright, because they actually learned to be compassionate.”

“Walang masama maging involved sa mga bagay-bagay at ipaglaban ang mga opinyon natin. Pero sana pag nagbitaw ng mga salita ay di para lang magpabibo sa iba at makisabay sa kung anong uso.”

“So yung sinasabi niyong millennial na maaarte, mga batang ‘90s din yung iba sa kanila. Gen Z po yung tinutukoy niyo as ‘maarte’ or ‘snowflakes.’”
