Marawi civic leader and Otso Diretso candidate Samira Gutoc slammed candidates who have corruption cases but still managed to run for public office. KAMI learned that Gutoc delivered her campaign speech in former Sen. Bong Revilla’s bailiwick, Cavite.

In a report by the ABS-CBN News (author Katrina Domingo), Gutoc said that people running in the polls with cases are disrespecting what the Cavite province has been fighting for, the independence that was declared from Spain.

“Kabastusan yan na may P100-million na kaso pero tatakbo ka pa rin samantalang kami na hindi kilala, walang bahid, walang tsansa,” Gutoc said.

“Kabastusan 'yan sa ipinaglaban ng Cavite,” she continued.

Gutoc said that it should be pointed out to the Filipino voters that candidates with clean records matter. However, she did not mention any specific names.

“Dapat makita nila ng klaro na nananakawan ang future nila because may mga interests to protect, na they have cases and they have to protect themselves,” Gutoc stated.

As reported by Rappler (author Mara Cepeda), the crowd cheered when Gutoc said that what Filipinos should be looking for are those with dignity and honor.

“Dignidad ang hinahanap natin, marangal na trabaho. Kaya tayo ay nagsasama-sama, para magdesisyon para sa ating kinabukasan na ninanakaw ng mga tao na nagnanakaw na nga, may kaso, tumatakbo pa. Anong klaseng eleksyon 'yan?" she said.

As previously reported by KAMI, actress Agot Isidro slammed the political ad of Revilla dancing to “Budots.”

In 2014, Revilla was detained for his alleged connection to the pork-barrel scam and for kickbacking P224.5 million. However, as reported by KAMI before, the Sandiganbayan found Revilla “not guilty” of his plunder charge.
