The University of the Philippines (UP) ranked as the fourth best university in Southeast Asia. KAMI learned that UP ranked at the 95th spot in the recent list of the Times Higher Education (THE).
In a report by the ABS-CBN News, it was the first time that UP made it in the Top 100. The country’s state university was one of the five universities in Southeast Asian that entered the first 100.
From last year’s 156th rank, UP moved 61 places with an overall score of 38.1 points. Meanwhile, De La Salle University landed at the 251st spot with a score of 20.7 to 23.8.
According to a report by the Philippine Star (author Janvic Mateo), the Tsinghua University in China was named as the Top 1, followed by the National University of Singapore, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, University of Hong Kong, and Peking University.
THE ranked about 400 universities in 27 states across Asia. They had 13 performance indicators that were merged into five categories such as teaching, research, citations, industry income, and international outlook.
