A Facebook user shared a majestic photo of Mayon Volcano under an "umbrella cloud", and it went viral online. KAMI learned that the netizens were amazed by the photo.
Netizen Noli Luna posted the photo he took on April 23 at around 5:30 in the morning with a caption: "Daragang Magayon, wearing her white umbrella."
Only few were blessed to witness the magical moment because it quickly faded away.
According to a report by the GMA News Online (author Joviland Rita), the cloud formation that happened was called "lenticular cloud."
According to Crystalinks, altocumulus standing lenticularis or simply put lenticular clouds, are lens-shaped clouds that form at high altitudes. It usually happens when a stable moist air goes over a mountain, and large-scale standing waves would build on the downwind side.
The netizens could not help but be amazed by the captured moment. Here are some of their comments on the Facebook post:
"Amazing Magayon! Watta nice shot kuya."
"Amazing, it's unusual cloud formation."
"Grabe ang ganda..really amazing"
"so nice mayon volcano so beautiful!"
