President Rodrigo Duterte visited Pampanga a day after the 6.1-magnitude earthquake shook Luzon. KAMI learned that the President visited the Chuzon Supermarket that collapsed and caused at least five fatalities.
Former Special Assistant to the President (SAP) Christopher “Bong” Go shared photos of their visit to Pampanga.
President Duterte also presided a situation briefing in San Fernando, Pampanga on Tuesday night.
During the briefing, Health Secretary Francisco Duque said that the PhilHealth and DOH would cover the medical assistance of earthquake casualties.
Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) said that they would facilitate the re-employment of the 10 Chuzon workers. For those who will not be employed, the government will be engaging them in livelihood programs. For the HUDCC, they are allocating P5,000 to P10,000 financial assistance to the families whose houses were damaged by the earthquake.
President Duterte also said that he is grateful that the quake only caused barest minimum deaths, not that he was belittling the problem. He added that for him, everything is normal, except for the shopping center that collapsed.
As previously reported by KAMI, an earthquake jolted some areas of Luzon on Monday afternoon. The local government unit of Pampanga has also placed their area under a state of calamity.
