- PHIVOLCS noted that they recorded around 491 aftershocks brought by the Luzon quake
- However, only 62 were plotted and only eight of it were actually felt
- The town of Porac in Pampanga has been placed under a state of calamity
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) said that more than 400 aftershocks happened after the 6.1 magnitude earthquake that shook some parts of Luzon on Monday.
KAMI learned from the Manila Bulletin that as of 8 a.m. on Tuesday, there were around 491 aftershocks recorded by PHIVOLCS. However, only 62 were plotted, and only 8 of it were felt.
In a report by the ABS-CBN News (author Michael Joe Delizo), the town of Porac in Pampanga is now placed under a state of calamity.
“Ito ‘yung pinakamalakas na lindol na nakita namin, parang umaalon ‘yung lupa. Hindi biro," Porac Mayor Condralito Dela Cruz.
As posted by Rappler, House Speaker and Pampanga 2nd District Rep. Gloria Macapagal visited the collapsed supermarket in Porac.
Porac is one of the most damaged places that had been hit by the earthquake. As previously reported by KAMI, eight out of 11 people who died due to the quake were from Porac.
KAMI also reported earlier that at 5:11 p.m. on Monday, an earthquake was recorded in Castillejos, Zambales. The quake was felt in many areas of Luzon like Quezon City, Manila City, Cavite, Batangas, Bulacan, and Bataan.
