“Idol Philippines,” the newest amateur singing competition on television, finally aired its first episode yesterday, April 21.
KAMI learned that the performances of the contestants, as well as the ability of some judges to cause laughter, immediately went viral on social media.
Vice Ganda went with his usual funny statements while Regine Velasquez tried to give pieces of advice about various singing techniques.
The other judges, James Reid and Moira Dela Torre, seemed focused on the technical aspects of the performance and also on its overall impact.
However, a lot of netizens were disappointed with how the new show went as they claimed that it focused more on the stories of the contenders rather than their talent.
The judges, particularly Moira and James, were also criticized heavily for “not being fit yet as jurors of the show.”
With regards to Vice’s contribution to the singing program, some netizens believed that it was nothing different from what he is showing in his other shows.
