The authorities confirmed the death of a 25-year-old Canadian after falling from a zipline ride at the Flight of the Gibbon, a popular tourist attraction in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
KAMI learned from the ABS-CBN News that the tourist fell from the wire for about 12 meters or 39 feet. He was on vacation with his girlfriend whenn the incident happened.
Police major Sakarin Wiratsaken told Agence France-Presse that the incident happened when the lock on the tourist’s body harness and the main line broke.
According to the report by The Thaiger, the Flight of the Gibbon has temporarily stopped their operations right after the incident.
The management said that they will take full responsibility and provide financial assistance to the victim’s family.
In a report by the BBC News, the authorities are still conducting their investigation, and they are looking into whether the weight limit was exceeded or if there was negligence on the part of the management.
